New Member Orientation… A one-on-one consultation with a personal trainer to assess your fitness level and build a routine that is tailor fit to your own health and fitness goals. This basic evaluation will include introductions to cardiovascular equipment and proper strength training techniques, as well as answer any questions you have about the gym or our equipment. It is a great way to get motivated and ensure that you see results from the beginning.

Fitness Re-Assessment… The American College of Sports Medicine suggests changing your workout routine every 4-6 weeks to create optimal strides toward your fitness goals. My Personal Training and Group Fitness philosophy is based on positive energy, intensity and having fun. I help my clients and class participants incorporate health and fitness into their individual lives, and teach them how to exercise correctly to build self-confidence in and out of the gym. As a former recreational and competitive bodybuilder I always based my own training regimen only on building muscle and burning fat, never truly focusing on the power of functional movements and mobility. In 2012 I was introduced to Hard-Style Kettlebell training and CrossFit and my love of fitness was reinvigorated. I learned quickly that true fitness is not what you see in the mirror, but mentally and physically feeling your best as a result of the effort you put in, everyday. I dedicate my coaching to help others achieve the same, everyday!

I'm Eric Hanson. I'm a personal trainer who has been in this industry for over four years. Personal training is all about helping you look, feel and perform better than you ever thought possible. My job is to motivate, encourage and educate you along the way to reaching your fitness goals. Years ago, before I became a personal trainer, I worked a corporate job and lived a sedentary lifestyle. I was fifty pounds over-weight, and despite trying every fad diet and “get ripped quick” scheme on the market, getting in shape was a constant struggle. It wasn't until I committed to a professionally designed training program and diet plan that I was able to lose the weight. Now, five years later, I am more than fifty pounds lighter and stronger than I've ever been in my life. I specialize in body composition, weight loss and toning – I am proud to offer my services to the members of the Olympic Athletic Club.

Melissa’s experience with sports has solidified her lifelong commitment to fitness and health. She has 15+years experience in gymnastics as a coach and competitive athlete which opened her curiosity for the marvels of the human body in action. When you work with Melissa you will find the confidence you need to take ownership of your fitness path through skill-based functional movements and strength training from a core to extremity approach. “My mission is to help you accomplish your personal fitness and health goals by providing structure, education and accountability. Together, we will find a program that is exciting to you. One that fits into your life and pushes your threshold. Get ready to work hard and feel fantastic!” After completing her B.A. in Theater Arts with a focus in movement and stage combat she completed her Personal Training Certification through the American Council on Exercise. She has continued pursuing new certifications and fitness knowledge with no end in sight. Melissa holds a specialization from the National Academy of Sports Medicine in Corrective Exercises, is a Crossfit Level one Trainer, and is taking classes on track for a degree in Physical Therapy. If she’s not out on the gym floor you’ll hear her in the Crossfit Studio as Kraken Crossfit’s evening coach, or on stage at the improv, or face down on the ground passed out from exhaustion.

I discovered my enthusiasm for fitness through my ongoing pursuit of becoming a firefighter. A career in the fire service is extremely physically demanding, so I knew I had to be in great physical condition. While building an exercise program, I learned about the importance of functional movements and core strength. These are vital components of any exercise program.

Fitness is a constant progression where we are always looking for new ways to challenge ourselves. As a personal trainer my job is to design a safe and effective program that will help you attain your goals. I want to share my excitement for healthy living with others and inspire them to always look for a new challenge.

Health & Fitness have always been a huge part of my life. In April of 2009, while going through an intense training regimen for Junior Olympics in Tae Kwon Doe, I developed a passion for traditional strength training and metabolic conditioning. My specialties include one-on-one personal training, small group training, kickboxing, kettlebells, weight training, form & technique correction, and Olympic Lifting. My priorities while training my clients are to; develop proper functional movement form while completing exercises, correct muscle imbalances, decrease risk for injury, inspire positive lifestyle change and counsel clients on proper nutrition and exercise habits. I have worked with individuals from many walks of life from ages 14 to 70 and from all fitness levels with success. I am very excited to continue my passion by helping others develop themselves and spread the power of health and fitness.

Constance is a former collegiate track athlete from Wheaton College in Illinois. As an athlete Constance was fascinated with how the human body and all its systems work together to function properly, and went on to receive a B.S. in Exercise Science. After achieving her degree she became a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has since been helping  both adults and children with weight-loss, strength and conditioning, sports performance training and improving their overall health and fitness. Constance specializes in designing fun and safe, yet challenging exercise programs that are specific to her clients goals, and empowers her them to achieve a better quality of life through self-care, especially in the aspect of fitness.

Rob recently moved to Seattle from Washington DC and brings ten years of training experience to OAC.  Inspired by his collegiate rowing coach, he received a B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland.  He has been working as a trainer ever since.  Early on in his training career a debilitating lower back injury forced Rob to reevaluate his own training regimen.  He quickly began incorporating injury prevention and rehabilitative concepts into his workouts.  He specializes in back pain prevention, weight loss, and strength training for endurance athletes.  Rob encourages his clients to live a healthy lifestyle and expects them to work hard to achieve their fitness goals.   When he’s not at OAC you’re likely to find him climbing, trail running, cooking, or traveling.

There is a saying, which states “every Trainer’s first client is themselves”. As a child and young adult I battled with fluctuating weight and low self-esteem. I didn’t like who I was so I decided to make a change. I believe anyone can change to become the best version of themselves, which usually starts with one’s health and then manifests throughout all other aspects of their life. We all have goals that are personal and unique to our situation in life, and my job as a trainer/coach is to help my clients take the most effective path towards meeting those goals while maintaining a safe and fun environment. I get to watch people from so many different walks of life change inside and out as a result of their hard work. The greatest joy I get from my career is witnessing that transformation in my clients.
